لقد عاد ليكون قريبا مني خشية موعد ولادتي ولكنه لم يكن ليبيت معي بنفس غرفة النوم، بل يقضي الليل الطويل إما بالصالة وإما بالغرفة الثانية، من اليوم الأربعين بعد زفافنا ولم يمسسني ولا مرة واحدة حتى أنه لم ينم بجواري مطلقا، كنت على الدوام أصبر نفسي وأمنيها وأدعو خالقي ليغير حال من بعد حال.
One day and one night while I was asleep in my bedroom, I woke up to the sound of my husband calling for me, so I went to him to answer his call, and as soon as I reached him, I found him sitting on one of the seats in the hall, looking at me and laughing in a strange and frightening way at the same time. I asked him: “Why did you wake me up so late at night?!”.
وفي يوم من الأيام وفي إحدى الليالي بينما كنت نائمة في غرفة نومي استيقظت على صوت زوجي وهو ينادي علي، فذهبت إليه ملبية ندائه، وما إن وصلت إليه وجدته وقد جلس على مقعد من المقاعد التي بالصالة وينظر إلي ويضحك بطريقة غريبة ومخيفة في نفس الوقت، عجزت عن تفسير ضحكاته المتتالية ونظراته المميتة فسألته: “لماذا أيقظتني في مثل هذا الوقت المتأخر من الليل؟!”.

لم يجب على سؤالي ونظر للمنضدة التي كانت أمامه وأشار بإصبعه وكأنه يطلب مني أن أنظر لشيء ما، وبالفعل اقتربت من المكان الذي أشار إليه لأنظر وأكتشف السبب الغريب الذي جعل زوجي بهذه الحالة الهيستيرية، وما إن نظرت حتى تسمرت في مكاني ولم أستطع الحراك مطلقا، كانت المنضدة تحوي حفرة كبيرة مظلمة وظلامها حالك وبنهايتها نار وكأنها قطعة من نيران جهنم والعياذ بالله.

لجم لساني وتوقفت جميع أعضاء جسدي عن وظائفها الطبيعية، كنت أقف مذهولة من هول ما أرى أمامي ولم يغير من حالتي شيء إلا عندما سمعت حركة تصدر عن زوجي، إذ أنني وجدته وقد وقف على المقعد الذي كان يجلس عليه وفجأة ألقى بنفسه داخل هذه الحفرة!
I screamed with all my might, and suddenly I heard the door of the room in which my husband used to sleep often, and I found him coming out of it, and it appeared on his face that he had just woken up from his sleep, terrified…
صرخت بكل قوة لدي، وفجأة سمعت صوت باب الغرفة التي كان زوجي ينام بها غالبا، ووجدته يخرج منها وقد بدا على ملامح وجهه أنه مستيقظ للتو من نومه فزعا…
