Lost wallet

One day there was a little boy named Ahmed.

في يوم من الأيام كان هناك طفل صغير اسمه “أحمد”.

He lived in a very small village.

كان يعيش في قرية صغيرة جدا.

Ahmed was known for his extreme honesty.

كان “أحمد” معروف بصدقه الشديد.

Ahmed never lied, he always spoke the truth.

لم يكن “أحمد” يكذب على الإطلاق، فكان يتحدث الصدق دوما.

One day, while Ahmed was walking on one of the streets, he found a wallet.

وذات يوم بينما كان يسير “أحمد” في إحدى الطرقات عثر على محفظة.

It was on his way back from school that day.

كان يومها في طريق عودته من المدرسة.

There was a lot of money in the wallet, and there was also an ID card in it.

وكان في المحفظة الكثير من المال، كما أنه كان يوجد بها بطاقة هوية.

Instead of keeping it, Ahmed decided to contact the owner of the ID and return the lost wallet to him.

وبدلا من الاحتفاظ بها قرر أحمد الاتصال على صاحب الهوية وإعادة المحفظة المفقودة إليه.

Indeed, “Ahmed” called the owner of the wallet. He was a man who was worried and sad about losing his wallet, his money, and some important papers.

وبالفعل اتصل “أحمد” على مالك المحفظة، وكان رجلا أصابه القلق والحزن على فقده لمحفظته وأمواله وبعض الأوراق المهمة.

The man was very grateful to Ahmed for his honesty, so he decided to give him a valuable reward for his honesty and return the wallet to him.

كان الرجل ممتنا للغاية لأحمد على مدى صدقه، فقرر أن يمنحه مكافأة قيمة على صدقه وإعادة المحفظة إليه.

Ahmed’s honesty was not only a reason for his reward, but it was also a reason for him earning the respect of all the people around him.

صدق “أحمد” لم يكن سببا في مكافأته وحسب، بل كان سببا أيضا في كسبه لاحترام كل الناس من حوله.

Everyone around him began to trust him and depend on him for many things. Perhaps they did not depend on older people like they depended on him.

كل من حوله بات يثق فيه ويعتمد عليه في أمور كثيرة ربما  لا يعتمدون على أشخاص كبيرة في السن مثلما يعتمدون عليه.

In one of the markets, a woman went to buy some things. She wanted sweet pomegranates.

في أحد الأسواق ذهبت سيدة لشراء بعض الأشياء، كانت تريد رمان حلو المذاق.

Although the seller knew that it was a sour-tasting pomegranate, and that was its type, he sold the pomegranate to the woman on the basis that it had a sweet taste.

وعلى الرغم من معرفة البائع بأنه رمان حامض المذاق فنوعه هكذا، إلا إنه باع للسيدة الرمان على أساس أنه حلو المذاق.

When she returned home, she discovered that the seller had lied, but she did not want to doubt his intentions, so she went to him that same day and asked him for a sour-tasting pomegranate for her sick husband as a cure.

وعندما عادت للمنزل اكتشفت كذبة البائع، ولكنها لم ترغب أن تشك في نواياه، فذهبت إليه في نفس اليوم وطلبت منه رمان حامض المذاق لزوجها المريض كعلاج.

So he gave her some of the same pomegranates he had sold her in the morning. She became certain that he had deliberately lied to her, so she left after telling him that she had discovered his lie and that she would never buy from him.

فأعطاها من نفس الرمان الذي باعها إياه في الصباح، أيقنت بأنه كذب عليها متعمدا، فانصرفت بعدما أخبرته بأنها كشفت كذبه وأنها لن تشتري منه مطلقا.

She told all her friends and neighbors that the seller was lying, as he was selling his goods by lying and cheating, and that he was an untrustworthy person.

أخبرت جميع صديقاتها وجيرانها بكذب البائع إذ أنه يبيع بضاعته بالكذب والغش وأنه شخص لا يؤتمن.
