في يوم من الأيام قرر أحد الأشخاص أن يذبح عجلا سمينا ويقوم بشويه بمنزله، ويدعو أقرب الناس إليه وأصدقائه للتلذذ بمذاقه الطيب، فقال لأخيه بعدما انتهى من الذبح وتجهيز كل الأغراض اللازمة: “اخرج الآن وقم بدعوة جميع الأحباب والجيران ليأكلوا معنا”.

وبالفعل سمع أخوه كلامه وخرج في الحال، وما إن ابتعد قليلا عن المنزل حتى صرخ في الناس قائلا: “يا أيها الناس هبوا لمساعدتنا فلدينا حريق بمنزلنا”.

وبعد لحظات بمثابة ثواني معدودة خرج مجموعة من الناس وأسرعوا للمنزل إليهم لنجدتهم، وهناك أيضا مجموعة من الناس وكأنهم لم يسمعوا شيئا من الأساس!

ومجموعة الأشخاص الذين أتوا لنجدتهم فوجئوا بحفل الشواء، فأكلوا وشربوا حتى امتلأت بطونهم، وكانوا سعداء للغاية؛ التفت الأخ وسأل أخيه متعجبا من أمره: “يا أخي إن الأشخاص الذين أتوا وبيننا هنا لا أعلم منهم أحدا، إنني لا أعرفهم ولم يسبق لي أن رأيتهم من قبل، ماذا فعلت؟!، وأين أحبابنا وجيراننا وأصدقائنا والمقربين منا لماذا لم تدعوهم كما طلبت منك؟!”

His brother answered him, saying: “My brother, those who left their homes came to help us and extinguish the fire burning in our house, and they did not come to the feast in the first place. These are truly the ones who deserve your hospitality; they are not a group of people who only know you for the sake of interest!”

فأجابه أخوه قائلا: “يا أخي إن الذين خرجوا من ديارهم جاءوا لنجدتنا وإطفاء النار المشتعلة بمنزلنا ولم يأتوا للوليمة من الأساس، فهؤلاء حقا من يستحقون كرم ضيافتك؛ وليس مجموعة من الأناس لا يعرفونك إلا للمصلحة”!

العبرة من القصة:

بإحدى الجامعات قرر أربعة أصدقاء الذهاب لحفل راقص للاستمتاع بوقتهم والحصول على بعض المرح، وعندما عادوا ليلا علموا من بقية زملائهم بالجامعة أنه تقرر عليهم امتحان من العميد شخصيا باليوم التالي، وبالفعل قرروا ألا يدرسوا بل واتفقوا على خطة محكمة يخبرون العميد بها.
